Role description:

To provide leadership and technical excellence and drive the development of the project finance function across Global Design (GECs and GSSC). Drive standardization, digitalization and automation across Global Design and increase GSSC utilization. Build a strong people first culture and strive for low voluntary attribution.

Role accountabilities:

  • Lead the Project Accounting and Accounts Receivable (Billing) functions across Global Design. Work to a high level of professionalism, integrity and independence
  • Act as a trusted Business Partner to all Business Units
  • Work to ensure a ‘no surprise’ culture
  • Ensure consistent, well controlled, lean, digital, automated processes are in place for both project accounting and billing.
  • Work with In Country Accountant to ensure compliance with tax legislation
  • Project Accounting. Work with an ‘in region’ and GSSC team to control direct, opportunity and indirect projects. Manage project opening, closing and maintenance. Maintain adherence to the Global Non-billable project structure.
  • Project Accounting. Provide clear reporting, transparency and insight for project financials (Project Financial Report). Develop backlog transparency to aid demand and headcount planning.
  • Project Accounting. Where required, support with resource planning projects for GEC’s.
  • Accounts Receivable (Billing). Manage and control the charging process to regions, which includes both billing and accruals. Own the process end to end, from BU to Region through GEC BV. Ensure accurate and timely provision of information to Global Design and region stakeholders.
  • Accounts Receivable (Billing). Provide management information, transparency and insight to the charges.
  • Accounts Receivable (Billing). Provide effective credit control with internal stakeholders to facilitate cash collection. Escalate disputes appropriately. Provide management and regions with outstanding statement of accounts to ensure transparency of Accounts Receivable positions.
  • Follow up with regions on overdue invoices.
  • Responsible for balance sheet control and reporting for the areas of responsibility in line with a Global Design standard approach.
  • Develop and manage an effective team, including robust attraction, development, retention and succession planning
  • Ensure compliance with the Arcadis Way and drive one way of working across Global Design. Lead the urgent need to standardize, streamline, digitize and automated processes.
  • Work with the Arcadis Way governance structure to deliver a successful implementation in Romania, India, Philippines ad BV.
  • Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders
  • Support the delivery of the People & Culture plan to enable a People First culture that progresses the business towards being an employer of choice and a great place to work
  • Proactively manage risks and opportunities of cost for Global Design, to minimize risk and maximize value
  • Drive increased GSSC utilization
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS and local GAAP in each Global Design location.
  • For areas of functional responsibility, work with the ‘In Country Accountants’ to ensure compliance with local statutory requirements.
  • Ensures Project Appointment forms are approved by GEC BV prior to actual start of tasks in the GECs.
  • Assist the auditors in yearly audits.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Significant professional experience (at least 10 years or more) in finance.
  • Experience of working in a medium/large organization in a manager role
  • Excel & ERP to a high proficiency (data analytics skills preferred as well)
  • Good leadership and management skills
  • Able to think and act in a proactive and independent manner
  • Able to force decisions in contentious areas thereby ensuring timely closure
  • Able to manage relationships and senior stakeholders
  • Able to work to deadlines and adapt to changing conditions
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder relationship building skills
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Culturally adoptive
  • Well-developed verbal and written English
  • Adaptable in the face of new challenges
  • Demonstrates commitment to team success.

Key Qualifications:

  • Has been in management roles for at least 3 years.
  • Minimum 5 FTEs to 10 FTEs handled
  • Demonstrating good project management skills
  • Project accounting/ billing experience is a must
  • CPA preferred
